Optimal Diet

The optimal diet refers to a diet that is low in carbohydrates. It is developed by polish doctor Jan Kwasniewski . The diet includes specific proteins, fats and carbohydrates. It stresses on food with "high biological value" like lard, egg yolks, butter, pork, bone stocks and meat.

The diet is believed to cure diseases considered untreatable like gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes and multiple sclerosis. According to an estimate about two million people around the world follow this diet.

The optimal diet is very popular in Poland. It has been used in Poland since the 1970 s. The diet has similar characteristics of other popular low carbohydrate diets like the Atkins diet, Paleolithic diet and several traditional diets. But the main difference in optimal diet is it is higher in fats and lower in proteins. This diet also emphasis on food with highest possible biological value. It includes only the carbohydrates required for the function of the body.
