South Beach DietSouth beach diet insists on the consumption of good fats and good carbs. This diet was developed by Dr. Agatstson for his cardiac patients. This diet is based upon his study of scientific dieting research. This also recommends intake of food low in carbo hydrates.The diet has three phases. All the three phases insist on consumption of good fats and minimizing bad fats. In the first phase, the insulin is eliminated by the dieters. He is expected to shed at least 8 to 13 pounds. This phase lasts for two weeks. In second phase, whole grain foods and fruits are included. This stage emphasis on food with a low glycemic index. When the dieter achieves his weight loss plan, the third stage begins. In this phase, three servings of whole grains and three servings of fruit is allowed per day. The diet emphasize on permanent change of one's eating style, intake of variety of foods and flexibility. It also discourages the eating of refined foods and saturated fats.
