Low Carbohydrates DietLow carbohydrates diet is popularly known as low carb diet. It refers to a nutritional program that recommends limited carbohydrate consumption. There are researches that relate carbohydrate consumption with increased blood insulin levels. Under low carbohydrate dietary program, the foods high in carbohydrates such as sugar, grains and starches are restricted or limited. On the other hand, foods high in proteins, fats, fiber etc and all taken in high percentage .A low carb diet allows only a small proportion of carb intake and is popular in weight loss programs. It also dictates the sources of carbohydrates to be taken in. It recommends the intake of carbohydrates as fruits, vegetables and other natural sources instead of cereals and bakery products. But some people say that low fat diets are not healthy ones. The lower intake of dietary fiber under low carbohydrates diet can lead to constipation. This diet can also place overload on renal system and increases the risk of arthritis. The high percentage of protein that replaces carbohydrates might affect the kidneys.
