The consumption of red meat and processed meat should be avoided. If not they can be consumed twice in a week. You can get a lot of protein from low fat dairy products and fish as red meat contain many saturated fats.

Processed Foods

All processed foods should be avoided. They contain high amounts of salt and preservatives, fats and flavourings and sugars to increase the shelf life of these foods. Known to raise cholesterol levels and raise the blood pressure, these foods should be avoided. Preparing fresh meals and knowing what ingredients used in your meals is important when you are trying to control your high blood pressure.
